West Boca Medical Center has received several clinical awards from Healthgrades, a widely used online resource for hospital and doctor evaluations. The hospital was recognized with four five-star awards, including distinctions for heart failure treatment, colorectal surgeries for the fourth consecutive year, sepsis treatment for the fifth year in a row, and respiratory failure care for the fourth straight year.

“Healthgrades’ recognition reflects our high standard of care combined with our quality team,” said Jerad Hanlon, CEO of West Boca Medical Center. “We always put the patient first and these awards reflect their trust in us so we can continue to help them heal every single day.”

Healthgrades determines its annual honors by reviewing risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across more than 30 common medical conditions and procedures at about 4,500 hospitals nationwide. This evaluation helps identify leading hospitals in areas such as respiratory failure, heart failure, colorectal surgery, and sepsis treatment. Healthgrades provides consumers with accessible data to support informed decisions about where to seek care.

The latest Healthgrades analysis showed that if all U.S. hospitals performed at the level of five-star institutions during the study period from 2022-2024, approximately 230,466 lives could have been saved and nearly 156,797 complications avoided among Medicare patients.

“Healthgrades’ specialty awards identify the nation’s top-performing hospitals in key service areas, helping consumers find high quality care tailored to their specific needs,” said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “We’re proud to recognize West Boca Medical Center for its consistently superior outcomes in key service areas, including cardiac failure, respiratory failure, colorectal surgery and sepsis treatment.”

West Boca Medical Center is part of Palm Beach Health Network and has served southern Palm Beach and northern Broward counties for over 37 years. The hospital offers general medical services along with specialties such as orthopedics and robotic surgery. It also operates a breast imaging center; women’s and children’s services; two emergency centers open around-the-clock; and is home to southern Palm Beach County’s only level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
