The U.S. Census Bureau has published the latest Business Formation Statistics (BFS) for December 2025, offering updated information on new business applications and formations across the United States and Puerto Rico.

The BFS are released monthly and provide both seasonally adjusted and unadjusted data at national, regional, and state levels. The dataset includes 12 series: four related to business applications and eight focused on business formations. Puerto Rico receives four monthly business application series as part of the standard release.

This statistical product is developed by the Census Bureau in partnership with economists from several institutions, including the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the University of Maryland, and the University of Notre Dame.
