Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that Success Academy, a charter school network known for its academic performance, will open its first Florida campus in Miami. The move is part of the Schools of Hope initiative, which aims to expand educational opportunities for families in areas with persistently low-performing schools.
“Florida leads the nation in educational freedom, and today we are adding to that promise,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “With Success Academy opening in Miami, students will now have access to one of the highest-performing education models in the country. Florida’s families deserve world-class education, and we will continue to make it available to every child no matter their zip code.”
Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas added: “Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, parents are empowered to choose the educational path that best suits their children’s unique needs. Success Academy offers families another high-quality option, backed by a nationally recognized track record of academic excellence and school improvement.”
The Schools of Hope program was established in 2017 to give students from underperforming schools better access to quality education. The program works with nonprofit charter networks known as Hope Operators, which have demonstrated success serving low-income communities and improving student outcomes. Its main objective is to reduce achievement gaps between low-income students and others.
Governor DeSantis has supported expanding these options through new laws and initiatives.
