Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets has put his waterfront home in Sea Ranch Lakes, near Fort Lauderdale, up for sale at $9.8 million. The listing comes two years after he and his wife, Elena Galera, purchased the property for about $8.7 million, setting a record for the gated community located approximately five miles from Inter Miami’s stadium.

The seven-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom house at 7 Seneca Road spans 7,100 square feet and was built in 2023 on a 0.3-acre lot with around 100 feet of lake frontage. The residence also features a three-car garage. Veroushka Volkert of One Sotheby’s International Realty is handling the listing and previously brokered the couple’s purchase.

Busquets is set to retire from Major League Soccer at the end of this year. In October, ESPN reported that he plans to take a break from soccer before considering coaching opportunities.

“I think in the future, yes [I’d want to be a coach], but for now I’d rather take a sabbatical,” Busquets told reporters. “It’s a long time, with hardly any weekends. … You want to enjoy time with your family, time for me, for them, seeing my children, being with them, traveling more, watching football from a different perspective.”

Before joining Inter Miami alongside Lionel Messi, Busquets played for FC Barcelona from 2008 until their transfer to Major League Soccer. Inter Miami is owned by brothers Jorge and Jose Mas along with David Beckham and other investors.

Messi resides nearby as well; he and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo bought an eight-bedroom estate in Fort Lauderdale’s Bay Colony neighborhood last year for $10.8 million. Messi also owns luxury condominiums in Sunny Isles Beach.

Inter Miami’s ownership group includes Ares Management and recently secured a $450 million loan from JPMorgan Chase earlier this year as part of efforts to complete its $1 billion mixed-use stadium development near Miami International Airport.
