A historic Palm Beach mansion, Casa del Ensuenos, has been listed for sale at $175 million following a major renovation. The property, located at 800 South County Road, is a 1923 Venetian-style estate designed by Addison Mizner and is recognized as one of only two such mansions he built in the area. It sits on 1.5 acres along the Intracoastal Waterway and features 200 feet of waterfront just north of Mar-a-Lago.
The estate was purchased by businesswoman Ann DesRuisseaux in 2020 for $24 million. After experiencing repeated flooding from Lake Worth Lagoon, DesRuisseaux initiated a significant restoration project that included elevating the structure to address issues caused by rising tides and saltwater intrusion. The exact cost of the renovation has not been disclosed but is reported to be in the millions.
Approval for the renovation required several Town Council hearings due to the scope of work needed to preserve and adapt the landmarked property. The project is now cited as an example of how luxury homes in Palm Beach are responding to environmental challenges such as sea level rise.
Casa del Ensuenos offers 27,000 square feet of living space with 21,500 square feet under air conditioning. The home includes 15 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, and five half-bathrooms. Architectural highlights include a half-round stair tower, lakefront balconies, cast-stone details, and a courtyard archway formerly used as a yacht entrance.
Margit Brandt of Premier Estate Properties holds the listing for Casa del Ensuenos. Brandt described it as “one-of-one” and “one of the most iconic renovations in Palm Beach history.”
Currently, Palm Beach’s highest-priced residential listing is an oceanfront estate on North End offered at $205 million. In April last year, Florida set a new record for home sales when the DeGroote family sold their Naples waterfront estate for $225 million.
