Palm Beach Health Network has recognized five employees as Tenet Heroes, highlighting their dedication and service to patients and the community. The recognition is part of Tenet Healthcare’s annual program that honors individuals for exceptional commitment.

Maggie Gill, Group President of Tenet Healthcare’s East Coast Region, said, “Our Tenet Heroes embody the heart of Palm Beach Health Network. Each of these individuals represents the very best of who we are, dedicated caregivers who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of our patients and in our communities. We are proud to honor their extraordinary contributions and celebrate the meaningful impact they have across Palm Beach County.”

Angelica Ligas, RN, BSN, serves as a care coordinator at Delray Medical Center. She played a leading role in improving patient care experiences by driving Delray’s patient satisfaction initiative and leading the Care Experience Committee. Her work has contributed to fostering a culture focused on compassion and patient-centered care.

Shawn Smith, RN, an oncology nurse at Good Samaritan Medical Center, was honored for his support to patients and families. Inspired by his late brother, Smith has provided emotional support through gestures such as delivering Christmas trees during the holidays and volunteering at a local food shelter.

At Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, physical therapist Marielena “Lena” Miquel was recognized for her clinical expertise. She identified a life-threatening condition in a recovering orthopedic patient that led to timely intervention. Miquel also established the hospital’s Pelvic Floor Therapy Program.

The Trauma and Emergency Department staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center were commended for their response when three Sheriff’s Deputies were injured in an accident. The team coordinated efforts across departments while continuing regular patient care.

Joe Nowicki, RN, from West Boca Medical Center was acknowledged for his ongoing service both within and outside the hospital setting. He has donated more than twenty-two gallons of blood and volunteered with programs such as the American Lung Association’s Open Airways Program.

Palm Beach Health Network is made up of six hospitals including Delray Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center, and West Boca Medical Center. It is considered the largest healthcare network in Palm Beach County and is known for its comprehensive services across various specialties.
