After recent knee injuries to Florida Panther forward Aleksander Barkov and Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, concerns have grown about how athletes can prevent similar setbacks. WPBF 25 spoke with orthopedic surgeon Dr. David Deliberato to discuss strategies for reducing the risk of knee injuries among athletes, including those at the high school level.

Dr. Deliberato shared insights on preventive measures that young athletes can take to protect their knees during sports activities. He emphasized the importance of proper training techniques, conditioning, and awareness of injury risks.

“Young athletes should focus on strengthening the muscles around the knee, maintain flexibility, and use correct form during exercises,” said Dr. Deliberato. “Prevention is key in avoiding long-term damage.”

The interview comes as local sports communities look for ways to keep players healthy and active throughout their seasons.
