More than 3,200 members of IAM Union District 837 who work at Boeing in the St. Louis area are set to vote on a revised contract offer from the company on Sunday, August 3, starting at 10 a.m. Central Time. If members reject the new proposal, a strike will begin at midnight on Monday, August 4.
The updated offer from Boeing includes several changes in response to earlier feedback from union members. The company has withdrawn its Alternative Workweek Schedule (AWS) proposal, which means that current contractual overtime policies will remain unchanged. Employees at the maximum pay rate would receive an additional annual payment of 50 cents per hour. For pension-eligible employees, there is now a full $10 pension multiplier increase in the first year instead of $5 increases spread over years two and three. To qualify for this increase, workers must retire after January 1, 2026.
Other elements of Boeing’s proposal—including proposed wage increases totaling 20%, a $5,000 ratification bonus, vacation and sick leave policies, and healthcare provisions—remain unchanged from previous offers.
This upcoming vote follows union members’ strong rejection of Boeing’s earlier contract proposal on July 27.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) represents about 600,000 active and retired workers across North America in industries such as aerospace, defense, airlines, shipbuilding, railroad, transit, healthcare, automotive and others in both the United States and Canada (https://www.goiam.org/).
