The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) has announced its participation in the Young Workers March on Washington, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, in Washington, D.C. The event is organized to highlight the challenges faced by young workers and to call for policies that improve their economic prospects.

According to the IAM, young workers are dealing with several pressing issues, including rising costs of living, difficulties in securing affordable housing, limited access to healthcare and childcare, and increasing student debt. The union states these problems are affecting both the future workforce and community stability.

The march will begin at 11 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, located at 400 New Jersey Ave., NW. A rally will follow at noon at the U.S. Capitol Building.

In a statement about the event’s purpose, organizers said: “On this day, the IAM will join labor unions and worker advocacy organizations from across the country to demand an America that works for workers and to ensure young workers have the same opportunities their parents had.”

They added: “These challenges threaten the future of work and the stability of our communities. That’s why young workers and unions are coming together to demand action, fairness, and real solutions.”

For additional information about participating in the march or related activities, interested individuals can contact Dee Colbert, IAM Women’s and Young Workers Director.
