Florida’s high school graduation rate has reached a new record, according to an announcement made by Governor Ron DeSantis during the State of the State address. For the 2024-25 school year, the state reported a graduation rate of 92.2 percent, which is the highest in Florida’s history. This figure represents an increase of 2.5 percentage points from the previous year and a total rise of 4.9 percentage points since the 2021-22 academic year.
Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas commented on this achievement, stating: “Florida’s historic graduation rate reflects the power of Governor DeSantis’ strong leadership, clear expectations, and unwavering commitment to student success. These achievements demonstrate what can be accomplished when we uphold rigorous standards, provide robust support to schools and prepare every student for success beyond graduation.”
The governor’s administration has focused on maintaining high educational standards, promoting accountability measures, protecting parental rights, and broadening educational choices for families across Florida. The steady improvement in graduation rates is seen as evidence of these ongoing efforts to ensure students are prepared for postsecondary education and future careers.
