The Florida Chamber of Commerce has announced the top four finalists in its “Coolest Thing Made in Florida” competition, an initiative aimed at highlighting the significance and range of the state’s manufacturing sector.
The semifinalists represent a variety of industries across different counties. Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, based in Alachua County, manufactures large underground mining loaders equipped with dual diesel and electric power systems. These machines are exported internationally to markets such as Mongolia and Indonesia.
Chromalloy, located in Palm Beach County, designs and produces jet engine replacement parts for aerospace engines. The company’s process involves designing components in Palm Beach Gardens, casting them in Tampa, and machining them in Oldsmar.
Blue Wind Technology from Brevard County assembles wind turbine nacelles using advanced composite materials. Their products contribute to cooling more than three million homes and are recognized for advancing sustainable energy technology.
Arthrex, operating out of Collier County, specializes in orthopedic surgical innovation. Its DualCompression Hindfoot Nail implant is designed to aid bone healing while reducing hardware requirements through the use of a responsive nitinol core.
“These finalists demonstrate the extraordinary talent, innovation, and global competitiveness of Florida manufacturers,” said Mark Wilson, President & CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “From aerospace and energy to healthcare and heavy machinery, these companies are helping grow Florida into a top 10 global economy.”
