Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Libraries was voted into the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL), according to an announcement on Apr. 6. The decision was made by a vote of ASERL member libraries during the consortium’s recent membership meeting.
The membership is seen as a significant step in FAU’s development as a research institution, giving its libraries access to new collaborative opportunities and shared resources with other leading research libraries in the Southeast.
“We are honored to join the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries and to collaborate with such an accomplished group of research institutions,” said Linda Marie Golian-Lui, Ed.D, dean of the FAU Libraries. “This membership reflects Florida Atlantic’s continued momentum as a Carnegie R1 research university, an ‘Opportunity College and University,’ and ranking in the Top 100 Public Universities.”
Through ASERL membership, FAU Libraries will participate in initiatives such as shared collections, professional development programs, and regional partnerships that aim to expand access to resources for faculty and graduate students. The collaboration is expected to enhance support for researchers by increasing access to shared research collections across member institutions.
Golian-Lui said, “This membership underscores the vital role our libraries play in advancing scholarship, expanding access to knowledge, and supporting the success of our students and faculty. As the Florida Atlantic hometown academic libraries, we look forward to contributing to ASERL’s collaborative initiatives and strengthening partnerships that benefit researchers across the region.”
ASERL was founded in 1956 and now includes 40 member institutions following FAU’s addition. The organization focuses on resource sharing, professional development, and innovative library services among leading southeastern research libraries.
