Cara Perry has been named vice president for communications at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), according to an announcement from the institution. Perry has worked at FAU for 23 years, holding various positions in communications and public relations. During her time at the university, she has played a key role in developing communication strategies across several campuses and leading initiatives that have contributed to the university’s growth and increased its visibility.
“Please join me in congratulating Cara on this well-deserved appointment,” said FAU President Adam Hasner. “Her leadership and expertise make her the ideal choice to guide our communications and marketing strategy. I’m confident in her ability to tell the university’s story and lead with passion, vision and excellence.”
Perry had been serving as interim vice president since September, providing leadership for the Division of Public Affairs during that period.
She has also contributed significantly to promoting research conducted at FAU by working closely with faculty and students to highlight how their work benefits communities both within Florida and beyond.
“FAU has been my professional home for more than two decades, and it is an honor to continue serving the university in this role,” Perry said. “I am grateful for President Hasner’s confidence and for the opportunity to work alongside our talented faculty, students and staff to tell FAU’s story — highlighting the discoveries, impact and purpose that connect our campuses to the communities we serve across Florida and beyond.”
In addition to her responsibilities at FAU, Perry serves on boards such as the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Florida, Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast, as well as the St. Lucie Economic Development Council. She is a member of Leadership Florida, previously served on the Florida Commission on the Status of Women, and was recently appointed by FAU to serve on the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation.
Perry holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Florida State University and a master’s degree in university administration from the University of Central Florida. She is a fifth-generation Floridian committed to supporting FAU’s mission.
