Florida Atlantic University High School has announced that 23 seniors from its class of 2026 have been named National Merit Scholar semifinalists, with an additional 43 students recognized as commended students. Together, these 66 students account for 38% of the graduating class.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is a national academic competition in which less than 1% of high school seniors qualify as semifinalists from a pool exceeding 1.3 million students. Of this group at FAU High School, 22% are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, and ten are first-generation college students.
Lauren Robinson, Ed.D., principal of A.D. Henderson University School and FAU High School, commented on the achievement: “We are incredibly proud of our students for achieving such extraordinary recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. These results reflect not only their talent and dedication but also the strength of the innovative learning environment we’ve built at Florida Atlantic University High School. Our students continually rise to the challenge, balancing rigorous academics, research and early college experiences while demonstrating what’s possible when curiosity meets opportunity.”
This year’s honorees join last year’s cohort of 22 semifinalists and 29 commended students from the class of 2025. The current semifinalists will now compete for finalist status and potential Merit Scholarship awards.
