Duke Energy Foundation has announced nearly $50,000 in grants to 10 organizations in Indiana that support veterans and military families. The grants are intended to fund programs that provide transitional housing, mental health services, and other essential needs for veterans across the state.

“Veterans embody service, leadership and commitment – qualities that strengthen our communities every day,” said Stan Pinegar, president of Duke Energy Indiana. “These grants are a token of our appreciation and a way to help local partners deliver the housing, counseling and basic needs that veterans and their families deserve.”

Organizations receiving funding include Family Service Association of Howard County for revitalizing a garden honoring Pearl Harbor survivors; Huntington County Government for emergency financial assistance; Irreverent Warriors for mental health outreach; Kaiser Home Support Services for transitional housing at Liberty Place; Lafayette Transitional Housing Center for support to homeless veterans; People and Animal Learning Services for experiential education programs; Sons of the American Legion Post 77 for building a memorial monument; United Way of the Wabash Valley for expanding a Vietnam exhibit at the Veterans Memorial Museum of Terre Haute; Upstream Prevention for suicide prevention tailored to military-connected residents; and Veterans Support Network for assistance with rent, food, and repairs.

The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million each year in philanthropic support to communities served by Duke Energy. The foundation is funded by shareholders of Duke Energy.

Duke Energy Indiana supplies about 6,300 megawatts of electric capacity to approximately 920,000 customers across a 23,000-square-mile area, making it the largest electric supplier in Indiana.
