Duke Energy Florida and its partners have provided nearly $650,000 in assistance to help customers pay their energy bills in 2025 through the Share the Light Fund. The initiative is supported by contributions from Duke Energy Florida, the Duke Energy Foundation, employees, and customers.

A portion of the funding came from a partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays, where $1,000 was donated for each regular season win, totaling $82,000. Additional funds were allocated to help customers during periods of extreme summer heat.

Loree Elswick, president of Duke Energy Foundation, said: “We know that behind every request for assistance is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time. Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”

All donations received by the Share the Light Fund are distributed to social service agencies within Duke Energy Florida’s 35-county service area to assist customers with their energy bills.

At a recent outreach event in Clearwater, representatives from Duke Energy Florida and United Way Suncoast met directly with more than 200 customers and gathered information for follow-up with an additional 800 individuals.

Jessica Muroff, CEO of United Way Suncoast, stated: “The United Way Suncoast is grateful for the important work we’ve been able to do with Duke Energy Florida to support families across the Tampa Bay area. We look forward to building on this impactful partnership in 2026 and beyond.”
