Duke Energy Florida has announced immediate savings for income-qualified customers through its Clean Energy Connection program. Customers currently participating in programs such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-EBT), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), or the Duke Energy Neighborhood Energy Saver may be eligible to enroll.

The Clean Energy Connection program involves 10 solar sites owned and operated by Duke Energy Florida across the state. These sites produce a combined 749 megawatts of carbon-free electricity at peak output, which is enough to power about 230,000 homes.

Customers who qualify pay a monthly subscription fee of $8.35 per kilowatt-hour and receive a fixed credit of $9.03 per kilowatt-hour each month. This arrangement ensures that subscribers save money from their first month of enrollment, with ongoing savings available as long as they remain in the program.

“Through Duke Energy Florida’s Clean Energy Connection program, income-qualified customers can receive guaranteed savings, while also supporting solar energy – without any of the traditional equipment or costs,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “There’s no risk, and the reward is instant, which is why we encourage all eligible customers to consider enrolling today.”

Both homeowners and renters are eligible for the program. There are no upfront costs or enrollment fees required. Participants do not need to install or maintain any equipment and can cancel after their first month’s subscription without further obligation. Customers who move within Duke Energy Florida’s service area can continue their subscription.

Duke Energy Florida serves 2 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers in a 13,000-square-mile area in Florida with an energy capacity of 12,300 megawatts. Its parent company, Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK), provides electricity to more than 8 million customers across several states and owns nearly 55 gigawatts of energy capacity nationwide.

More information on the Clean Energy Connection program is available on Duke Energy’s website.
