Delray Medical Center has become the first hospital in the Southeastern United States to use Medivis’ augmented reality spine navigation system during a surgical procedure. The operation was performed by Dr. Lloyd Zucker, neurosurgeon and Chief of Neurosurgery at Delray Medical Center.

The Medivis Spine Navigation System is designed to work with current surgical workflows, using augmented reality to display patient-specific 3D holographic images directly onto the surgical field. This technology features spatial targeting, artificial intelligence segmentation, implant simulation, and 3D rendering of the spine. These tools help surgeons place screws more accurately and efficiently.

Heather Havericak, CEO of Delray Medical Center, said, “We are thrilled to integrate Medivis’ Spine Navigation technology into our operating rooms. This partnership aligns with our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care and improving patient outcomes through the latest innovations in medical technology.”

Dr. Zucker commented on the benefits for surgeons: “The Medivis augmented reality system gives us an unprecedented level of visibility and precision during spine procedures. Being able to visualize patient-specific 3D anatomy in real time enhances surgical accuracy, efficiency, and ultimately, patient outcomes. This is a transformative step forward in spine surgery, and I’m proud Delray Medical Center is leading the way.”

Delray Medical Center is part of Palm Beach Health Network and serves southern Palm Beach County as a 536-bed acute care hospital employing over 1,700 staff members and more than 700 physicians. The hospital provides specialized services such as cardiac care, orthopedics, neurosciences, emergency medicine, weight-loss surgery, brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation at Pinecrest Rehabilitation and Outpatient Hospital (the only state-designated program of its kind in the county), as well as adult psychiatric care at Fair Oaks Pavilion.
