Delray Medical Center has become the first hospital in Southern Palm Beach County to perform a procedure using the Aliya Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) technology with the INUMI Flex Endoscopic Needle for soft tissue ablation. The procedure was carried out by advanced bronchoscopist Dr. Stephen Milan.
The Aliya PEF system, used with the INUMI Flex Needle, applies high-voltage, high-frequency electrical currents endoscopically to target lesions. This energy disrupts cell membranes and causes non-thermal cell death while preserving healthy surrounding tissue.
“This innovative technique is unlike anything we’ve seen,” said Dr. Milan. “Early clinical studies suggest the potential for releasing antigens that may stimulate an immune response. We are excited to be one of the first healthcare systems to offer this technology.”
The Aliya System and INUMI Flex needle have received 510(k) clearance from U.S. regulators for surgical ablation of soft tissue but are not commercially available outside the United States.
Delray Medical Center is part of the Palm Beach Health Network and operates as a 536-bed acute care hospital with more than 1,700 employees and 700 physicians. The facility has served southern Palm Beach County for over four decades, offering services such as cardiac and vascular care, orthopedics, neurosciences, emergency care, and weight-loss surgery.
Additionally, Pinecrest Rehabilitation and Outpatient Hospital at Delray Medical Center is recognized as the only state-designated brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation program in Palm Beach County by Florida authorities. The hospital also includes Fair Oaks Pavilion, a 53-bed adult psychiatry unit. More information about their services can be found on their website at www.palmbeachhealthnetwork.com.
