The Daytona Aquarium & Rainforest Adventure has opened the rainforest section at its facility, marking a new phase for the attraction. The addition features a range of mammals and exotic birds such as toucans, sloths, otters, and tamarins. The aquarium, which spans 55,000 square feet and began operations last year, houses more than 50 exhibits. Among them are a 110,000-gallon shark exhibit and a stingray touch pool. Updates regarding the official opening date of the rainforest area will be available on the aquarium’s website and social media channels.
The Marine Science Center reopened to visitors on June 24 after closing for nine months to undergo renovations valued at $4.2 million. The project included enhancements to marine exhibits, expansion of educational facilities, and upgrades to amenities for guests. These improvements aim to strengthen public education about marine ecosystems.
After two and a half years of renovation work, the Mary McLeod Bethune Home & Gravesite has also reopened. This National Historic Landmark was once home to Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune—an educator, civil rights leader, and founder of Bethune-Cookman University—and serves as her final resting place. The site displays artifacts and photographs documenting visits from notable figures including U.S. presidents.
The Museum of Arts & Sciences has also introduced new exhibits.
