Compass has expanded its presence in Florida’s Treasure Coast by bringing on the New Wave Group, a 15-agent team based in Stuart. The move marks Compass’ first entry into this region. The New York-based brokerage, led by CEO Robert Reffkin, announced that the New Wave Group specializes in luxury residential properties throughout Martin, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.

The New Wave Group is headed by Sara Crombie and has closed over $500 million in sales. According to its website, agents with the group include Catherine Hudzina, Dana Netska, Ellen Pentland, Gayle Sokoloff, Genece Singer, Jake Newman, Jennifer Heins, Judy Cialone, Laura Trombetta, Mike Davis, Nina Blum, Susan Freytes, Susan Slutsky and Will Gluckman.

“Led by Sara Crombie, the team is Compass’ first in the Treasure Coast region,” the release shows.

The expansion comes amid ongoing interest from real estate firms in Florida following a significant migration of wealth to the state during and after the pandemic. Brokerages have been expanding their reach across various regions; for example, last year the Keyes Company added a 24-agent brokerage in Fort Pierce.

Compass has more than 33,000 agents nationwide and continues to grow through mergers and acquisitions. Recent activity includes adding a 20-agent team in Florida’s Panhandle region in 2022 and opening an office for 300 agents and staff in Downtown Naples earlier this year. In July, Compass brought on the Korman Group—a 40-agent team—in Boca Raton.

In addition to its expansion activities within Florida and nationally, Compass is involved in legal action concerning industry practices. The company is suing Zillow over policies related to private listings and recently announced it would no longer follow the National Association of Realtor’s Clear Cooperation Policy.
