The U.S. Census Bureau will conduct a prerelease webinar to discuss the upcoming 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates, which are scheduled for public release on September 11, 2025. The session aims to guide participants on accessing ACS data and resources, as well as provide advice on comparing statistics across different geographies and time periods.
The ACS is recognized for offering detailed statistics about the U.S. population and housing, including information on language spoken at home, education levels, commuting patterns, employment status, mortgage or rent details, income, poverty rates, and health insurance coverage. It remains the primary source of local estimates for most of its more than 40 topics.
Subscribers to the embargo will have early access to these one-year statistics starting September 9 at 10 a.m. ET. The data covers all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other regions with populations of at least 65,000 people. The embargo period lasts until September 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Distribution services are reminded that sharing embargoed content before the official release is not permitted according to the Census Bureau’s embargo policy.
Caleb Hopler from the American Community Survey Office and Jewel Jordan from the Public Information Office will lead the webinar on Thursday, September 4 at 1 p.m. ET. The event includes an audio conference paired with an online presentation; attendees can participate in Q&A sessions during and after the presentation.
Registration for embargo access is available through www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/embargoed_releases. Those interested in attending the webinar can register via https://www.census.gov/data/academy/webinars/2025/2024-acs-1-year-estimates-prerelease.html.
